Age verification has become an important requirement for adult websites in many parts of the world. To help you keep your ModelCentro site compliant, we have integrated two certified Age Verification Systems (AVS): Yoti and PrivateAV.
The verification provider is selected automatically based on where your fan is accessing your site from, so there is nothing you need to configure or manage manually.
When is age verification required?
Age verification requirements depend on the visitor's location. In some countries and regions, visitors must confirm that they are 18 or older before they can access adult content.
If a fan visits your site from a region where age verification is required, they may see content previews blurred or have their access restricted until they complete the verification process.
The appropriate verification method is applied automatically based on the visitor's location.
Which verification provider will my fans use?
Modelcentro currently uses the following setup:

So, for example, a fan accessing your site from the US will be directed to PrivateAV, while a fan accessing it from Germany will use Yoti.
You don't need to choose the provider yourself and Modelcentro takes care of this automatically.
What does the verification process look like?
When a fan is required to verify their age, they will be guided through the verification process provided by Yoti or PrivateAV.
Once they successfully confirm that they are 18 or older, the site's content becomes available to them again. In general, the verification only needs to be completed once for that particular website and user account.
This means your fans don't have to go through the process every time they visit your site or make a purchase.
Yoti
Yoti is a certified age verification provider used by ModelCentro for visitors in Germany and other regions where Yoti is currently applicable.
Yoti can estimate a user's age using a quick facial scan. If the scan is unable to confirm the user's age, an ID verification option may also be available.
The verification itself is handled by Yoti, so you don't have to collect or review your fans' identification documents yourself.
Yoti currently charges a one-time verification fee of $1.50. This fee is non-refundable. Fans can make multiple attempts if they are unable to complete the verification successfully on their first try.
PrivateAV
PrivateAV is another certified age verification provider integrated with Modelcentro.
PrivateAV uses age estimation and, where necessary, document checks to confirm that a visitor meets the required age threshold.
Unlike Yoti, PrivateAV is free for fans and is currently used for visitors from Australia, the United Kingdom, Brazil, France, and all US states.
PrivateAV is also designed with privacy in mind. Rather than providing personal identification information to you as the site owner, the verification process simply confirms to the platform that the visitor has successfully met the required age threshold.
What does this mean for you as a site owner?
The good news is that there is very little you need to do.
Age verification is built into the Modelcentro platform and is handled automatically when it is required. You don't need to:
Manually verify your fans' ages
Collect or store their IDs
Choose an age verification provider
Change your site settings when requirements apply in a particular region
When a visitor needs to complete age verification, Modelcentro takes care of showing the appropriate verification flow and restricting access to explicit content until the process is completed.
This allows you to continue focusing on your site and content while the age verification requirements are handled in the background.
What about privacy?
We understand that age verification can naturally raise questions about what happens to a fan's personal information.
Yoti and PrivateAV are designed to minimize the information shared with the platform during the verification process. The purpose of the check is to confirm that the visitor meets the required age threshold, rather than giving site owners access to their verification documents or facial verification data.
As a site owner, you don't receive your fans' IDs or facial verification information and don't need to store this information yourself.
What should I do if a fan has trouble verifying their age?
If a fan is having trouble completing verification, they should first follow the instructions provided by the verification service during the process.
